I recently had to go to San Francisco for a film project and decided to build in an extra day for some sight seeing (turns out you need more than a day to do San Francisco properly). While driving through Golden Gate Park we happened to come upon the Legion of Honor, a location featured prominently in one of my favorite Hitchcock films, Vertigo.
Left is a still from the film of Jimmy Stewart following Kim Novak into the museum.
This is how the Legion appears today. More stills and a downloadable brochure on the filming of Vertigo are available on the
Fine Art Museums of San Francisco Blog.
